LANSING, MI–Life Insurance Association of Michigan is proud to announce that it will be supporting National Retirement Planning Week® 2017. This national effort to promote awareness of a comprehensive rethinking of retirement planning will be taking place from April 3-7.

For the past three years the National Retirement Planning Coalition®, comprised of the leading educational, consumer advocacy, and financial services organizations, has used National Retirement Planning Week to recognize the ongoing effort to assist Americans plan for retirement. The Coalition, under the leadership of the Insured Retirement Institute, is committed to educating Americans and making retirement planning a national priority.

National Retirement Planning Week and other coalition activities demonstrate that, in spite of developing trends that have made planning for and funding retirement more difficult, it is still possible to rethink retirement and retire on your terms. Comprehensive planning and proper asset management is critical to ensuring financial security. To support its educational and awareness efforts, the Coalition maintains www.RetireOnYourTerms.org, which features life-stage specific resources and tools to assist Americans achieve their long-term financial goals.

Throughout National Retirement Planning Week, the Coalition and its supporters will be releasing additional educational materials for public consumption. This will be accomplished through a national media-outreach program which includes radio, print spots, and the social media campaign #RethinkRetirement, as well as through the website: www.retireonyourterms.org. With its host of events and meetings with legislators on Capitol Hill, National Retirement Planning Week will be the beginning of a renewed national conversation on the importance of preparing and protecting retirement.
